LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas State held a 5-3 lead over Kansas and had two runners on base with one out in the seventh inning Saturday evening when the second severe weather delay caused the game to be suspended until 4 p.m., Sunday afternoon.

The game, which began at 6 p.m., was delayed for one hour, 12 minutes in the second inning when a tornado warning was issued for Douglas County. The Wildcats trailed 1-0 at that point, but scored twice in the second after the delay to take a 2-1 lead. KU tied the game with a run in the bottom half before Kansas State scored two more in the third and received a Mike Kindel leadoff home run in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. KU came back with a run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to one.

Kansas State won the first game of the series Friday evening, 11-10, in 10 innings in Manhattan. Following the completion of the suspended game on Sunday, the two teams will begin the series finale at 6 p.m.
