GO WILDCATS

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Coming off its first-ever conference-opening sweep in the Big 12 era, the Kansas State baseball team reentered the top 25 as the Wildcats were ranked in both the Collegiate Baseball and the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Top 25 on Monday.

Collegiate Baseball, which ranked K-State 22nd in its final 2009 poll, placed the Wildcats 20th in this week's poll. The distinction marks the first time this season the Wildcats have been ranked by the organization, while it was K-State's highest mark in the poll since Collegiate Baseball ranked Kansas State No. 17 on May 4 last season.

Kansas State was ranked No. 21 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Top 25, the second time this season the Cats have been ranked in the poll. After their sweeping 2009 regional participant Kent State three weeks ago, the coaches placed the Wildcats at No. 25 on March 15.

The Wildcats also entered the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 30 this week, claiming the 28th spot in the poll.

K-State hosts in-state rival Wichita State, which is 30th in this week's Collegiate Baseball Top 30, Tuesday in a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Tointon Family Stadium. The game will be televised throughout the state of Kansas on Cox Communication's Kansas 22, as well as in the Kansas City area on Metro Sports with Brian Smoller and former Wildcat skipper Mike Clark calling the action.

A pre-game tailgate will be held beyond the left-field wall beginning at 5 p.m., while the first 100 fans in the stadium will receive a coupon redeemable for a free t-shirt following the conclusion of the game.

For tickets, contact the Kansas State Athletic Ticket Office at (785) 532-7606 or online at www.k-statesports.com.
