The invitational will feature fellow Midwest Region competitors, South Dakota, South Dakota State, North Dakota, North Dakota State and Minnesota. Minnesota’s women’s team is currently ranked ninth in the national poll.
“This weekend’s meet will let us see what kind of team we really are,” said head coach Michael Smith. “We have done very well thus far and it will be interesting to see how we match up against a much more competitive group of runners.”
After two consecutive meet victories for both Kansas State squads, the Wildcats are looking to continue their early success with a quality outing on Saturday.
The Wildcat women are looking toward senior leader Beverly Ramos to have another impressive performance after she received her third career Big 12 Runner of the Week honor on September 19th for her first-place finish in Springfield, Mo. at the Missouri State Classic.
The men will be running at the Big 12 Championship distance of 8K for the second time this season. At their last meet, sophomore Armando Del Valle led the Wildcats with a time of 25:41.1 and finishing second overall out of a field of 48 runners.
