DALLAS, Texas Sophomore Liliani Mendez was named the Big 12 women’s Co-Runner of the Week for cross country meets run through Saturday, Sept. 9. Sharing the honor with Mendez was Iowa State sophomore Lisa Koll.

Mendez, who hails from Dorado, Puerto Rico, took home the women’s title at the Kansas State Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8, at Warner Park in Manhattan. Scoring a 5K time of 17:58.80, this marked the first cross country win for Mendez as a Wildcat. Her time was over 34 seconds faster than second-place runner, and freshman Wildcat, Lindsay Pierson.

The Wildcats will have this weekend off before heading to the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 23.
