K-State Cross Country Set to Host Wildcat Invitational
Manhattan, Kan.-The Kansas State University cross country teams return to action this weekend to host the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, September 13, at the Stateland Cross Country Course in Topeka, Kan. The women will run in a 4,000-meter race at 8:30 a.m. while the men will compete in a 6,000-meter race at 9:00 a.m.
The Wildcats' Mathew Chesang and Trisha Culbertson will look to repeat their performances from the first meet of the year when they took home the individual titles at the University of Tulsa Hurricane Festival. Chesang won the four-mile race in a time of 21:03, 19 seconds ahead of K-State's Rogers Kipchumpa who finished second. Culbertson blew away the field in the women's race at the invitational by running the two-mile race in a time of 11:47, 47 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The Wildcats will host teams from the University of Kansas, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Fort Hays State University and Wichita State University at the meet. The Stateland Cross Country Course is located at 2nd and Oakley in Topeka, Kan., and admission to the meet is free. |
