MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State Sophomore Fernando Roman was named Big 12 Runner of the Week for his efforts at the JK Gold Classic this past Saturday. Roman, in his debut as a cross country runner, won the JK Gold Classic with a time of 18:37.09.
This is the first time a male K-State cross country runner has won Big 12 Runner of the Week since Armando Del Valle on September 8th, 2009.
Joining Roman as Big 12 Runner of the Week is Sophomore Rachel Johnson from Baylor. She won the Bear Twilight Invitational with a time of 13:28:5, defeating the field by nearly 12 seconds.
The Wildcats’ next meet will be September 15 when they run in the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. For more information on cross country, go to kstatesports.com.
