Terre Haute, Ind. – A season’s worth of work came to an end on Monday as Martina Tresch had one more strong performance finishing 47th at the NCAA Championship. The junior’s time of 20:35.6 marks her best record on the Terre Haute course as she has ran the course five times.
Head coach Michael Smith was proud of his runner’s performance.
“This was her best race on this course, she had a strong race and a strong finish,” Smith said.”She competed very well today.”
Tresch has made great strides from last season’s championship meet when she finished in 72nd place.
“I felt pretty good and in control the whole race,” Tresch said. “I think that it has been a really good year overall.”
All year long Tresch has been K-State’s most consistent runner as she earned the top Wildcat finish in all races this year. With one year left, she will look to make more improvements and to make an encore appearance in 2012.
Villanova’s Sheila Reid finished first individually with a time of 19:41.2, while Georgetown won the women’s team race with 162 points.
The men’s team race was won by Wisconsin as the team recorded 97 points. Freshman Lawi Lalang from Arizona won the individual race in a time of 28:44.1.
