Cavello Named CABMA President for 2002-03

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Bob Cavello, the associate athletics director for business operations at Kansas State, will serve as the president of the College Athletic Business Management Association for the 2002-03 academic year.

Cavello was voted into the officer rotation of CABMA four years ago and moved into the top position for the national organization at its June meeting in Dallas, Texas.

He is in his seventh year at Kansas State and his third as associate A.D. Cavello is responsible for the financial, contractual and business operations for the athletic department and the Intercollegiate Athletics Corporation. He also oversees e-commerce activities for the department and is responsible for the men's and women's golf programs.

Prior to K-State, Cavello was an officer in the U.S. Air Force and served as the athletic business manager at the United States Air Force Academy, where he managed the financial operations of the Academy's 27 intercollegiate teams from 1993-96.

Cavello earned his bachelor's degree from the Air Force Academy in 1987 and a master's degree in physical education with a sports-administration emphasis from Northern Colorado in 1997.

CABMA is an organization devoted to the establishment, maintenance and implementation of the highest standards of integrity and efficiency in the scope, policies and procedures involved in the management and administration of business in the athletics departments and associations of colleges and universities.

It is one of a number of organizations affiliated with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
