Athletics News Ferguson Elevated to Assistant Athletics Director
May 16, 2002 MANHATTAN, Kan. - Jeff Ferguson has been elevated to the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine at Kansas State University, the athletics department announced Wednesday. Ferguson, 30, has been at Kansas State since August 1997. He has directed the Wildcats' athletic training operations since the spring of 2000, when he was named the director of sports medicine. "Jeff has provided outstanding leadership for one of our most important operations at Kansas State," said director of athletics Tim Weiser. "He and his staff offer high-quality care for our student-athletes and provide that service with a great deal of compassion and professionalism. We take great pride in the operation he has developed." After coming to K-State, Ferguson was the assistant athletics trainer for three years before assuming the director's role. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1993 at Clemson University and his master's in 1995 at Texas-Arlington, where he was a graduate assistant. He was primarily responsible for the track and field teams at UTA. Ferguson then for two years worked as an athletics trainer at Rehab Management Systems, an orthopedic and physical therapy company in Louisburg, N.C. He also spent part of the 1992 season working with the training staff of the New England Patriots. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. --ksu-- |
