Seventh Annual Student-Athlete Academic Recognition Banquet

Twelve Kansas State student-athletes were honored for being named Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American or All-District honorees.

Football student-athlete Thomas Hill (center) is joined by Bob and Lila Snell. Hill received the Bob and Lila Snell Award. The Bob and Lila Snell Award of Excellence and Effort, recognizing the outstanding male and female student-athletes who improved their academic standing through sustained effort and commitment to learning. These winners overcame obstacles and showed tremendous effort in their academic work.

Men's basketball student-athlete Pervis Pasco (center) is joined by Bob and Lila Snell. Hill received the Bob and Lila Snell Award. Football student-athlete Marques Jackson (second from the right) with Associate Athletic Director for Student Services Phil Hughes, Nancy Keifer and Sylvester's son, Simon Sylvestor-Chaudhuri, was the recipient of the inaugural Gina Sylvester Memorial Award. The award, named after the Arts & Science Assistant Dean who led the colleges advising staff, recognized an Arts & Science student who has progressed toward graduation and used the advising system to overcome challenges.

Football student-athlete Steve Washington (center), with Associate Athletic Director for Student Services Phil Hughes and Veryl Switzer, received the inaugural Veryl and Fern Switzer Campus Leadership Award. The award recognizes a student-athlete who is involved in student organizations and multicultural affairs, demonstrates leadership on a team and on campus, and is active in community service.

Track and cross country student-athlete Amy Mortimer (right), with academic counselor Roger Johnson, was the recipient of the female Scholar-Athlete Award. The awards recognize the outstanding senior male and female student-athletes for the 2002-03 season.

Baseball student-athlete Tim Doty (right), with academic counselor Lindsay Larson, received the male Scholar-Athlete Award. The awards recognize the outstanding senior male and female student-athletes for the 2002-03 season.

Track student-athlete Nicole Grose (right), with academic counselor Roger Johnson, was the recipient of the Scholastic Achievement Award. The award recognizes a single senior letterwinner with the highest cumulative grade-point average in undergraduate work.

Tennis student-athlete Petra Sedlmajerova (right), with academic counselor Lindsay Larson, received the female Counselor's Award. The award recognizes a male and female student-athlete who showed outstanding academic achievement throughout their careers at Kansas State.

Football student-athlete Andy Klocke (right), with Assistant Director of Student Services, received the male Counselor's Award. The award recognizes a male and female student-athlete who showed outstanding academic achievement throughout their careers at Kansas State.
