Jan. 8, 2002 Manhattan, Kan. - Sheahon Zenger, Kansas State's assistant director of athletics for developmentt, will be assuming additional duties in that area, athletics director Tim Weiser announced Tuesday. Zenger, 35, will take on responsibilities previously handled by Mike O'Brien, who recently was named the new director of athletics at the University of Toledo. Zenger will be responsible for administering the operation of the Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund, as well as assisting in the implementation of Plan 2002, Kansas State's previously announced plan to offer priority football seating for Ahearn Fund donors. Zenger has been with the K-State athletic department as an assistant athletics director since June 2001. "We appreciate Sheahon agreeing to take on additional duties during this time," said Weiser. "As we implement Plan 2002, it will be important to have the stability Sheahon brings to our program. He will enable us to have a smooth transition from what is currently a successful program toward what we know will be an exciting future."
